I am captivated by the mesmerizing existence of fractal patterns, those intricate repetitions echoing throughout the landscapes of our world.
Introducing herbs and tea leaves into my artwork adds another dimension, weaving the organic chaos of the environment onto every canvas. My goal is to immerse viewers in the sensory experience of the natural world, inviting them to breathe in the sights and scents.
I seek to ignite contemplation on the interconnectedness of nature's splendor. Whether it's the humble herb leaf or the grandeur of a coastal vista, each element contributes to a larger landscape, reflecting the earth's harmonious rhythm.
By allowing nature to guide the direction of my paintings, I aim to evoke a sense of familiarity and nostalgia in viewers, tapping into our primal connection with the world around us.
I embrace the whimsy and spontaneity of the creative process by starting my paintings with a unique ritual: the random tossing of teas onto a wet canvas. Each tiny leaf finds its place, guided only by chance and gravity, resulting in mesmerizing patterns and unexpected beauty.
After the random trickle of tea leaves settles, I step back to witness the transformation unfold. From the seemingly chaotic sprinkling of tea emerges a natural landscape, as if coaxed into existence by the forces of nature themselves. Through careful observation and intuitive guidance, I gently nudge the emerging image into focus, allowing its inherent beauty to remain.
This is where I step in to add layers of paint to the canvas. With each brushstroke, I honour the organic landscape revealed by the tea's random placement, allowing its patterns to guide my hand in bringing forth the full richness of the scene. As colours blend and contours deepen, the final image emerges, a harmonious fusion of minimal human intervention and natural serendipity.
